Hands-on Review:- Huawei Nexus 6P

DISCLAIMER

The opinion of this product is not to discourage the buyers for buying such product.

The opinion is just to state the pros and cons, with some introduction and specifications.

1. Introduction

Last year, a dramatic change came to Google's Nexus offering. The upper-mid range phone that was the Nexus 5 was replaced by a premium and much more expensive model made by Motorola. Skip time ahead about a year to this fall and we are offered a true premium package with a significantly lower price tag. The Nexus 6P is beautifully designed by Huawei to please both power users and average users alike. #googleplustips

Last year's Motorola Nexus 6 was a huge hit, literally. Unfortunately the phablet did not age well, the price of Motorola's offering was too high from the start then fell too low at the end of its life cycle. This year, Google decided to do two things differently with the Nexus release: launch and sell Nexus phones exclusively on the brand new Google Store, and release two Nexus phones offering the same experience in two different models of hardware, one larger and more powerful than the other, lower cost model.

Huawei and Google conceived a perfect sequel to the Nexus 6 - it's the first time Huawei is on board the Nexus program as well but their track record of excellent premium phones has positioned them as an ideal choice for a Google hardware partner.

The 6P offers a perfect balance of premium feel, software experience, and attention to detail without skimping out in other aspects (such as the camera experience or build quality).

2. What I liked about it

Hardware beautifully designed with excellent attention to detail, though, front is boring to look at

Current generation Samsung AMOLED screen is gorgeous and bright, dims well at night too

Optimizations to Marshmallow allow for excellent standby battery life

USB Type-C is a convenient and fast-charging but lack of OTG and TV-out support is a bummer

Performs excellently with no stutters or dropped frames in everyday tasks

Fingerprint scanner is blazing fast and a welcome addition

Camera experience finally comparable to other top camera performers1080p videos look good, 4K doesn't (yet), auto focus is less than stellar

3. Main disadvantages

Quite expensive outside the US and no major carrier
 -subsidized version in the US
-No expandable storage
-Lacks wireless charging
-Lacks a cable TV out option
-No Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for the camera
-No FM radio

Huawei's Nexus 6P improved where the Nexus 6 just barely make the mark. The 6P does manage to be a bit taller than the 6, but the narrower body of the 5.7" screen of the 6P makes it significantly manageable with one hand.

The new camera experience yields much better than the 6 did. And the use of current generation Samsung's AMOLED panels proves to be a welcome improvement to Motorola's OLED displays. #GooglePlusGuides

USB Type-C was a sure choice, ensuring a nudge for other smartphone makers to adopt the new USB standard.

In the past, every single Nexus device had some kind of compromise, however, we think this may be the first time a Nexus device has ever gotten every aspect about performance, camera, battery, and design just right.

But we wouldn't know until we check that thoroughly first hand.

Still, I think I've captured the essence of the device in the same precise, informative and detailed way that's become our trademark. Enjoy the good read! :)

4. Hence,

The Nexus 6P doesn't cut any corners and delivers well as this year's Google flagship. The price is considerably cheaper than an iPhone 6S Plus and still cheaper than the Nexus 6 was when it came out last year. The improvements and hardware updates make this Nexus the one to beat for the next iteration.

Huawei has done a wonderful job with the hardware and we applaud them. The release of the Nexus 6P will give them root to enter the US market and we hope to see more of Huawei on the State's side very soon.

The Nexus 6P truly feels like a flagship more than worth its price. The Nexus 6 was just too expensive for its own good, and those who are still holding onto their Nexus 5 for dear life now have two amazing devices to look at upgrading to.

Google has hit the bull's eye with what we wanted in a Nexus device: a great software experience, a great camera, an eye-catching display, and beautiful hardware that holds it all together.

The Nexus 6P definitely gets our approval as one of the best Android phones of the year.

On top of all that, Google has done a superb job of relaunching its own payment system with Android Pay. Also, the stellar implementation of the fingerprint scanner authentication, now baked into Android, is a great addition to the Nexus family of devices.

5. In my opinion (Read the Disclaimer above before reading the following)

This phone is an interesting one. Being made by Huawei, a company that is catching up with other competitors and trying to solidify its name in the smartphone industry, the nexus 6p seems like a perfect strike.

The device although seems unique in its own way, the performance is unmatched and unrivaled mainly due to the Stock Android OS that offers a pretty slick and lag free performance, a phenomena that is somewhat a rarity in other android running devices. Specs wise it’s a top tier phone for sure and on par with what it is offered by other brands, the result is a snappy phone with a camera that takes decent pictures and the android imprint (fingerprint sensor) is a much appreciated addition to this gem of a phone.

Finally, this phone is the crème of the crème and a shining example of what an android device should be. #Marketing
Nexus 6p Quality not better then BlackBerry Priv

If anyone wants to have two phones, then he should buy Nexus 6P and iPhone 6S plus. The purest form of phones in two different platform. No other models can give you this much satisfaction. That's mean for iOS go for iPhone 6S plus and android go for nexus. Too many features and skins spoil android. I have used Note5, iPhones. So I know real user comfort and stability.

Everyone I know who owns the 6P is extremely satisfied, so surely... moreI assure you you'll like this phone. I had the oneplus one before I purchased the nexus 6p, and the nexus 6p is awesome. Which is why I didn't purchase the oneplus two, it wasn't worth buying. You'll very much like the nexus 6p. I've had it over a month and I love it. Even though it doesn't have OIS it still takes amazing photos. You won't be disappointed. And the a battery is great.

PROS
- Superfast and highly accurate fingerprint unlock.
- 13MP? Other phones have 21MP. Bad Camera? NO. One realizes the megapixels have nothing to do with the quality of the photo when you see pics taken with this phone. In fact it is close to an iPhone's.
- Very light weight due to Lithium Polymer battery. The aluminum body feels very sleek and premium. Compare it with the not so premium feel of Nexus 5x.
- Brilliant display that shows vivid color. Also brightness can be turned way down for dim places. This is the good thing about AMOLED screens compared to IPS in Nexus5x.
- You get a USB-C to USB-A with this phone which you cannot get with a Nexus5x. Also the headphone quality is very high.

CONS
- The lack of megapixels is a problem if you try to zoom the image. So big group photos are not so good.
- The big battery does not give that much battery life as expected
- Huawei is not an established brand. The plain front side makes it look like a cheap phone until you flip it over.
- The phone is as long as the Nexus 6 and is quite big due to the waste area above and below the screen.
- Android 6.0 is still buggy if you tweak a lot of settings. But luckily they are rolling out bug fixes.

VERDICT-

If you are planning to buy a high end android phone, Go for this phone. I was confused between Nexus5X and Nexus6P. The small battery, IPS display, small display and plastic body of Nexus5X made me choose the Nexus6P.

Everyone I know who owns the 6P is extremely satisfied, so surely they're on to something with this device. There are certainly alternatives, especially considering the price, but they all seem to come with one or two major flaws.

The Galaxy S6 comes with TouchWiz and a poorly documented chipset (thus limited custom ROM support), the OnePlus 2 lacks NFC and has a relatively poor camera, the Moto X Play doesn't have a gyroscope, the LG G4 has a poor display and questionable build quality. The 6P lacks optical image stabilization which visible affects videos, but otherwise seems to leave its competition behind.

The lack of wireless charging, a removable battery and a microSD slot are also to be considered, but this is a trend amongst most high-end devices. It really comes down to what's important to you.

If it does develop a crack I'm sure it's covered by the manufacturer warranty. I read that there are some 6p devices that have had the cracking for no reason and that the phone was fixed using the warranty because huawei are aware of certain batches are affected.

Apparently they are able to identify the difference between that spontaneous cracking and a device damaged by a knock. Hope your device doesn't need it.

Very thin and short lines. Not visible to the naked eye unless shown under bright light. Next to sensor in the back panel. Not orderly but here and there. I could count four. Looks like they are in the inner side of the glass since I could not feel them with fingers on the outside.

I know this is minute detail but can't stop obsessing about them. Worried if they could develop into cracks later.
